Host a Booth - OSCAL 2020
16 & 17 May 2020 in Tirana, Albania
OSCAL | Open Source Conference Albania is the first annual international conference in Albania organized to promote software freedom, open source software, free culture, and open knowledge. It is organized by Open Labs, a non-governmental, not for profit organization, dedicated to promoting openness, freedom, transparency and access by amplifying its voice as a community altogether.
This year theme is: Internet Freedom FTW
For years, netizens have praised the collaborative tools empowered from the internet and the decentralized character of the network of networks. At the same time, hacktivists and whistle-blowers have warned us about the rising interest in controlling, filtering and censoring the internet as we know it.
Unfortunately, our biggest fears are becoming a reality. We read more and more reports about net neutrality being lost, massive surveillance operations being conducted, domain names being blocked, news outlets being censored and governments are fighting tools like encryption. A disturbing phenomenon happening in Albania, the Balkans and also worldwide. The World Wide Web, an amazing tool used to share knowledge, information and one of the fastest communication tools is now being used against us and we need to act!
Now, we are opening booth reservations, and we would like to invite developers, promoters and not only from Albania, the region and overseas to submit their proposals before 01.04.2020
You must be aware that the topic MUST be related with open knowledge, open source software and/or hardware, software freedom or generally open culture. If you are interested in sponsoring OSCAL, have a look at the sponsorship prospectus: https://oscal.openlabs.cc/sponsors/
While we will most likely be having a working internet connection at the venue, please don't rely your booth solely on the Wi-Fi if possible. In this way, we can prevent unneeded technical disasters. If you need anything special however, please let us know.
OSCAL is organized by Open Labs Hackerspace, which relies on donations and sponsors to operate. If you want to support the conference, you can become a Patreon:
